BEDFORD WINS NORTH CAROLINA COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. March 30, 2004 - The captivation and allure of Bedford at Falls River, a Wakefield Development Company community, helped lead to top honors with the North Carolina Home Builders Association 2004 Super STARS Award for Community of the Year.

Wakefield Development Company, an LM Sandler and Sons Company, worked in unison with Littleton Advertising & Marketing of New Bern, North Carolina to bring the groundbreaking vision of Bedford to life.  The partners were called to the stage an astounding seven times to accept awards at the NCHBA 2004 STARS Awards Gala.

The Super STARS Award for Community of the Year was judged on the implementation and creativity of a marketing plan, cost and continuity of all marketing phases, and overall sales success.  The judging criteria of the advertising awards included concept, layout, execution and overall design, and presentation as it relates to the target market.

Wakefield Development Company’s ability to establish the aspiration of Bedford led to awards in six categories of advertising, surpassing the minimum requirement of five STARS Awards needed to qualify for the Super STARS honors.  Wakefield and Littleton won awards for Best Radio Commercial, Best Color Ad - Over a Full Page, Best New Homes Publication, Best Marketing Program, Best Color Ad – Full Page or less, and Best Brochure for a Community.

The NCHBA STARS Awards event took place on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte during the 2nd Annual 21st Century Building Expo and Conference.  The event strives to turn the spotlight on the outstanding achievements of the industry’s builders, Realtors, on-site salespeople, and media and advertising professionals.
