Winter Wonderland Attracts More Than 1,000 People; Promotes Charity and Bolsters Community Relations
Raleigh, N.C., January 21, 2008—Wakefield Development Company celebrated its first-ever Snow Extravaganza event at its North Raleigh award-winning master-planned community, Bedford at Falls River. Hosted in conjunction with the community’s Home Owners Association, Wakefield Development Company invited guests to experience a genuine winter wonderland, complete with several feet of snow, provided by Adel Ice Company, a snowmaking business based in Adel, Georgia.
Family-friendly snow games, including snowman making, snow angel and snowball-throwing contests, were held on the hour with winners receiving gift cards to The Factory, a sports and entertainment mall located in Wake Forest. Adding to the exciting atmosphere was DJ Steve Quinney, as well as donated goods provided by: Chick-Fil-A®, 6701 Falls of Neuse Road; New York Bagel & Deli, 7909 Falls of Neuse Road; Starbucks®, 9630 Falls of Neuse Road; and Sweet Loralee Pastries, 1839 S. Main Street, Wake Forest. Hot chocolate, a popcorn machine and roasted marshmallows were provided by Wakefield Development Company.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with our first Snow Extravaganza,” said Dawn Forrest, director of marketing, Wakefield Development Company. “The day offered our residents another chance to get together and make unique memories with their families, and those who don’t live in Bedford at Falls River were able to experience the amazing friendly neighborhood atmosphere found in all of our communities.”
In the true spirit of the winter season, guests were asked to bring a winter apparel item to be donated to the local chapter of The Salvation Army.
“Once again, Wakefield Development Company and its friends and family have shown their kindness,” said Margaret B. Moody, director of development & major gifts, The Salvation Army of Wake County. “In the midst of severe weather, the community has generously contributed to those most in need of warmth, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Bedford at Falls River revives the traditional neighborhood setting and atmosphere, while combining modern conveniences of today’s homes.
